Country Representative

Reboot is a social enterprise working to improve governance and international development. Around the world, we are pioneering new models of engagement between citizens and public institutions. We help governments, international donors, NGOs, and others to become more responsive to the communities they serve.

From our headquarters in New York and country office in Nigeria, we are managing multiple projects to improve social accountability in public expenditures and promote greater civic engagement. Currently, we are working in the Niger Delta region and in central Nigeria, with plans to grow our portfolio in those regions and elsewhere in the country.

As we look to the future of Reboot Nigeria, we are seeking an entrepreneurial leader to manage and expand our growing portfolio of work. The Country Representative would directly supervise Nigeria-based staff and consultants, manage relationships with clients and partners, and liaise with headquarters staff. The ideal candidate will also have the talent to turn existing interest in Reboot’s work into new client engagements. The Country Representative will report to Reboot’s Director of Programs.

Responsibilities:

Programmatic Leadership:
  • Lead Reboot Nigeria in all aspects of program planning and implementation.
  • Create and maintain work plans based on programmatic goals and requirements.
  • Manage staff and ensure accountability for reaching objectives.
Staff and Organizational Development:
  • Promote staff development through training, mentorship, and recruitment.
  • Oversee operational and financial management, with support from headquarters.
  • Identify and address organizational development needs and future staffing targets.
Client Representation:
  • Maintain frequent communication with clients throughout projects.
  • Contribute significantly to client deliverables.
  • Serve as an ongoing resource for clients.
  • Generate new business opportunities that expand Reboot’s impact.

It is expected that the scope of responsibilities will continue to evolve in tandem with the growth of Reboot’s portfolio.

Qualifications:

A successful candidate will bring a mix of skills and experiences to the role. Specifically, we are looking for someone who can combine strategic vision, organizational management, and client relations.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:
  • At least ten years of relevant experience in development, government, advocacy, NGOs, consulting, media, or other relevant field.
  • Prior experience in managing relationships with senior-level stakeholders in government, donors, and/or NGOs.
  • A successful track record of managing productive teams of staff and/or consultants.
  • Demonstrated understanding of program management, planning, budgeting, and related skills.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Deep knowledge of Nigeria and specifically the Delta region. Work experience in multiple countries is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated topical expertise in one or more of the following areas: social accountability, open government, public financial management, human-centered design, ICT4D, and mixed-methods research.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in Nigerian Pidgin and other local languages preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality analytical writing.
