Program Manager
Reboot is a social enterprise working to improve governance and international development. Around the world, we are pioneering new models of engagement between citizens and public institutions. We help governments, international donors, NGOs, and others to become more responsive to the communities they serve.
From our headquarters in New York and country office in Nigeria, we are managing multiple projects to improve social accountability in public expenditures and promote greater civic engagement. Currently, we are working in the Niger Delta region and in central Nigeria, with plans to grow our portfolio in those regions and elsewhere in the country.
We are seeking a Program Manager to join Reboot’s growing team. The role will focus on managing relationships with subcontractors and grantees in civil society and broadcast media. This will include capacity building in a variety of areas, including technical expertise related to public sector budget monitoring, as well as core organizational development. The Program Manager will report to Reboot’s Director of Programs initially, and then to the incoming Country Representative.
Responsibilities:
The Program Manager role focuses on partner relationship management, with a certain amount of operational oversight as well. Specifically:
Management of Partner Relationships:
- Guide partners as they develop project proposals, work plans, and budgets.
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of capacity building support for partners.
- Train and mentor partner staff.
- Participate in program planning and reporting along with other Reboot staff.
Other Programmatic Involvement:
- Support other aspects of Reboot’s projects in Nigeria.
- Contribute to deliverables, proposals, and program plans.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and Reboot’s policies and processes.
Operational Management:
- Coordinate logistics and procurement to meet programmatic needs.
Other duties as assigned. As Reboot grows and its portfolio expands, the exact definition of responsibilities may shift over time.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will bring a mix of skills and experiences to the role. Specifically, we are looking for someone who can effectively manage partner relationships, provide necessary support, and work independently.
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- At least five years of relevant experience in development, government, advocacy, NGOs, consulting, media, or other field.
- Prior experience in mid-level, external-facing representation to stakeholders in government, donors, and NGOs.
- Experience supporting civil society organizations (at both national and community levels).
- A university degree in relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Nigeria required with work experience in multiple countries highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas preferred: social accountability, open government, public financial management, human-centered design, ICT4D, and mixed-methods research.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in Nigerian Pidgin and other local languages preferred.
- Computer proficiency (especially MS Office and Google apps) required.
The ideal candidate would be based in Port Harcourt and able to travel throughout the Niger Delta region. Possibilities may exist for outstanding candidates in other regions as well, as new opportunities develop.
