Communications Intern
Reboot brings the power of great design to the challenges of our times. By aligning the resources of institutions with the needs of the people they serve, we design innovative new services and improve existing solutions in the areas of global governance and development.
We are seeking a Communications Intern to help grow our impact. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to the issues Reboot works on, and has the intellectual courage and curiosity to develop robust solutions. You are passionate about unearthing insights about people and systems, and about using these as tools to drive positive change. This internship begins May 2013. Interns are expected to work 3 days each week up to 25 hours and will receive a stipend.
You are a first-rate storyteller with superb research, writing, and editing skills. You are eager to contribute to the global conversation about creating more just and accountable platforms for human development. You excel in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
- Produce engaging, meaningful, and regular weekly content for Reboot’s site, some of which will be repurposed for external publication.
- Manage Reboot’s existing social media presence, with a particular emphasis on growing audience among key constituencies.
- Support Reboot’s appearances at public events and produce a small portfolio of Reboot’s own events, including workshops, conferences, and other gatherings of like minds.
- Help maintain Reboot’s press database and coordinate media outreach.
- Support project teams on client engagements. Help synthesize and analyze field research, and help write and edit content for publication.
- Support other external communication initiatives about Reboot’s work.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate:
- Has or is pursuing a Master’s degree in public policy, international development, government, journalism, or a related field.
- Is fluent in government and development issues, and is equally comfortable presenting to a Cabinet official or to a person with no experience in the field. Knows how to communicate technical topics without relying on specialized jargon.
- Is an accomplished writer with a range of experiences, including corporate communications, blogging, and research publications.
- Has proven track record handling high-level communications projects.
- Has experience managing communications and partnerships with large institutions and public sector organizations.
