Projects you will immediately be working on range in topic (financial inclusion in China, governance reform in Tunisia, innovation in education in Sudan), with outputs primarily being print publications and web companion materials.
This is a two-month, part-time opportunity to start, but if you’ve got the chops, there is potential for full-time employment thereafter.
Responsibilities:
- Guide, from start to finish, the creative visual design process for various internal and client projects.
- Create clear, compelling ways to present complex concepts and to illustrate qualitative and quantitative data.
- Design the web user interface for various internal and client projects.
- Support the redesign of Reboot’s website, with the goal of creating a more rewarding user experience.
- Create illustrations and infographics to accompany content on the Reboot site.
- Develop templates for communication collateral.
Qualifications:
We’re open to wide range of profiles. This role may be suited for a veteran graphic designer who enjoys freelancing or an exceptional student looking to build a portfolio of work with demonstrated social impact.
Key characteristics we look for:
- A brazen aesthete with creative, interactive and graphic design skills.
- A proven ability to tell compelling stories through visual means
- Great attention to detail
- The ability to clearly and effectively explain your design process and, if necessary, defend your design decisions to both your own team and to external collaborators and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to take complex data and turn them into persuasive infographics
- Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash. Familiarity with Dreamweaver, AfterEffects or Final Cut Pro is a plus.
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment – you must be able to respond to changing needs and last-minute requests.
- A self-starter who can stay on task without direction, and also take initiative when necessary.
- A distinct, no-jerk personality. Our team is made up of delightful people, and you must be one as well.
Pay is competitive. You will be working out of our lovely office in downtown Manhattan. This role requires a 20-hour per week commitment, and the ideal candidate will be able to work on-site two days a week.
